Appointed Chief of the Blackshear Police Department on July 1, 2012. Prior to being appointed Chief, Wright was promoted through the ranks of the Blackshear Police Department and served in many positions. Additionally, Wright served as the Fire Chief for the City of Blackshear from 2005 until 2012.
As a public safety professional, Wright believes strongly that serving the community is a calling. Giving back and being involved in the community has always been a passion. As a member of numerous volunteer boards, Wright has volunteered for community projects benefitting various non-profits.
Wright is a member of numerous professional organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP), and the Peace Officer Association of Georgia (POAG)
Wright serves as district representative for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) where his is responsible for coordinating training and activities for Police Chiefs in Pierce, Ware, Charlton, Appling, Glynn, Long, McIntosh, Long, Brantley, Wayne, and Camden Counties. Additionally, Wright is a member of the GACP State Training Committee. Wright also serves on the Waycross Judicial Circuit Domestic Violence Task Force, the Child Fatality Review Board, the Advisory Board for the Christian Men Jobcorps, and numerous other boards.
